Sat, June 2, Starlight Parade & Run:
The Starlight Parade continues a longtime festival tradition from the early 1900s, when illuminated floats built on electric trolley cars made their way through the city on trolley tracks. Today, participants light up the night with approximately 100 illuminated entries along a 2.25-mile route. The parade draws more than 325,000 spectators to downtown Portland, and is also broadcast live from 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. on FOX 12.

With more than 5,000 runners projected for this year’s event, the Starlight Run is not only the largest Fun Run in Oregon, but also the most entertaining – with participants vying not only to break the tape, but to claim prizes (and bragging rights) for best individual and group costumes.

June 2-3, Youth Rodeo by NWYRA:

The youth rodeo will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 2nd and 3rd, 2018 at the St. Paul Rodeo Arena. It's free to the public. Cowboys and cowgirls, some as young as two or three years old, compete in nearly a dozen events divided into three divisions (rough stock, roping events, gaming events) where they can test their skills with others at the same age level at barrel racing, goat tying, pole bending, break away roping, bareback and saddle bronc riding, bull (calf) riding, tie-down roping, and team roping (heading and heeling).  For more information Click Here.

June 6-10, Fleet Week:
Since the very beginning of the Rose Festival, visiting ships and other fleet-related elements (like submarines) have been making their way to Portland’s waterfront. The City of Portland is known to be a favorite port of call for military (and non-military) visitors — and citizens enjoy making these visitors welcome! One of the purposes of Fleet Week has always been to celebrate and thank the active and reserve military personnel and all veterans. The Portland Rose Festival is extremely fortunate to be one of a few U.S. Ports of Call for a courtesy visit from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Navy.
